Play Dough

Shipton getting right to work
Did you know that play dough helps prepare kids to write?!  It strengthens the muscles in the hands necessary to master this skill.  Plus play dough opens up a whole world of creative play and exploration.  (If you give a preschooler play dough, your other kids will want some as well). Here is my easy-peasy 5 min salt play dough recipe:

2 C .water
1 C. salt
4 tsp. cream of tartar
2 TBS. oil (can use olive, vegetable, or baby; baby oil will make the play dough last the longest)
2 C. flour
food coloring of choice

Heat water and salt to dissolve as much salt as possible.  Remove from heat and whisk in cream of tartar and oil.  Mix well.  Stir in flour.  Cool slightly and knead out lumps.  Add food coloring while kneading.  Knead to desired consistency and color.  Store tightly covered.

*I double this recipe for enough play dough for my 4 kiddos.

Gavin's Lego Fruit Snack Recipe

With our family vacation to Lego Land coming up quickly, Gavin knew exactly how he wanted to spend his Dad and Mom time this week...  Such a cute, fun, and smart kid!  We purchased our molds on amazon FYI.
